This morning, I caught the bus at an earlier stop. It was cold and rainy, but less scary. When the bus stopped at Century Square, I looked out the window. It looked so quiet. I didn’t see the usual drug dealers hovering around. I only saw one woman who looked strung out, and she sat for a minute at the bus stop and then moved away. I was just beginning to think, “Wow. It doesn’t look so bad from this angle.” But, when the bus started moving again, I saw the flashing lights. Two cops were standing outside the tobacco shop. Real cops, not the doughy security guards that wander around down there. They looked bored but not-to-be-trifled-with. I guess the dealers had to move over a block this morning. What a shame.
